🕯️ The Importance of Candle Care

Candles are more than scent — they’re a feeling. A soft reset. A moment that says, slow down, you deserve this.
At Sunday Essence, every candle is hand-poured with love and intention to bring peace, comfort, and a little magic into your space. But to truly get the most out of your candle, a little care goes a long way. Here’s how to keep your flame burning beautifully from start to finish.
✨ Trim your wick
Before each burn, trim your wick to about ¼ inch. It keeps your flame steady, your burn clean, and your candle lasting longer.
A quick snip before you light up helps your candle breathe easier — no smoke, no uneven flames, just pure scent and calm energy.
🌿 Let it burn right
That very first burn matters. Let your candle melt across the entire surface (usually 2–3 hours) before blowing it out. This prevents tunneling and sets your candle’s “memory” so it burns evenly every time after.
Think of it like setting the tone — a good beginning creates a better experience.
💛 Keep it clean
After your candle cools, check that the wick is centered and free from debris. A clean candle not only burns prettier, it helps your scent stay pure.
🔥 Don’t overdo it
We know — it’s hard to say goodbye to that glow. But try not to burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Too long and your jar can overheat, shortening its life. Let your candle rest between burns — it deserves a break, too.
🌸 When it’s time to let go
Once there’s about ½ inch of wax left, it’s time to retire your candle. But endings can be beautiful — repurpose your Sunday Essence jars as planters, pen holders, or little homes for trinkets. The essence continues.
🌞 Candle care is self care
Candle care isn’t just about maintenance — it’s a ritual. A reminder to be gentle, intentional, and present.
Every time you trim, light, or pause to watch the flame dance, you’re practicing mindfulness in its simplest form.
Light with care. Rest with ease. And let your Sundays linger a little longer.
